Concept and application of non-woven fabric

Non woven fabric is a kind of fabric formed without spinning and weaving. It is simply formed by directional or random strutting of textile short fibers or filaments to form a fiber mesh structure, and then reinforced by mechanical, thermal adhesive or chemical methods. To put it simply, it is not interwoven and knotted by yarns, but directly bonded by physical methods. Therefore, when you take the adhesive scale in your clothes, you will find that there is no thread end. Nonwovens break through the traditional textile principle, and have the characteristics of short technological process, fast production speed, high output, low cost, wide use, and multiple sources of raw materials.

Non woven fabric's main uses can be roughly divided into

(1) Medical and sanitary cloth: surgical clothes, protective clothing, disinfection cloth, masks, diapers, women's sanitary napkins, etc;

(2) Home decoration cloth: wall covering, table cloth, bedspread, bedspread, etc;

(3) Cloth for heel fitting: lining, adhesive lining, floc, shaped cotton, various synthetic leather backing cloth, etc;

(4) Industrial cloth: filter material, insulating material, cement packaging bag, geotextile, covering cloth, etc;

(5) Agricultural cloth: crop protection cloth, seedling raising cloth, irrigation cloth, thermal insulation curtain, etc;

Classification of non-woven fabrics

1. According to the nature of the production process, it can be divided into three categories: dry process, polymer extrusion mesh process and wet process. At present, the largest production processes at home and abroad are dry process and polymer extrusion mesh process.

2. Classification according to reinforcement technology

(1) Spunlace reinforcement: Spunlace cloth;

(2) Needling reinforcement: needle punched cloth;

(3) Hot rolling machine bonding: spunbonded cloth, hot rolled cloth;

(4) Hot air bonding: hot air cloth;  

(5) Steam stabbing consolidation: steam stabbing cloth;

Several common non-woven fabrics are listed below

(1) Spunlaced non-woven fabric

Spunlacing technology is to spray high pressure micro water onto one or more layers of fiber mesh, so that the fibers are intertwined with each other, so that the fiber mesh can be reinforced and has a certain strength.

(2) Needle punched non-woven fabric

Needle punched non-woven fabric is a kind of dry non-woven fabric. Needle punched non-woven fabric uses the puncture effect of the needle to reinforce the fluffy fiber mesh into a cloth.

(3)  heat sealing non-woven fabric

Thermal bonded non-woven fabric refers to adding fibrous or powdery hot-melt bonding reinforcement materials to the fiber mesh, and then heating, melting, cooling and strengthening the fiber mesh into a cloth.

(4) Spunbonded melt blown non-woven fabric

Spunbonded non-woven fabric refers to that after the polymer has been extruded and stretched to form a continuous filament, the filament is laid into a mesh, and the mesh is then turned into non-woven fabric through self bonding, thermal bonding, chemical bonding or mechanical reinforcement. The process of melt blown non-woven fabric: polymer feeding - melt extrusion - fiber formation - fiber cooling - mesh forming - reinforcement and cloth forming.

(5)  sewn non-woven fabric

Sewing non-woven fabric is a kind of dry non-woven fabric. The sewing method is to use the warp knitting coil structure to reinforce the fiber mesh, yarn layer, non-woven materials (such as plastic sheet, plastic thin metal foil, etc.) or their combination to make non-woven fabric.
